Page Information
These details control the heading and introductory content at the top of the public Featured page.
Slideshow playback
Off means manual browsing. When enabled, the Featured page and Preview Draft advance every 3 seconds. Visitors can pause or use the arrows. Automatic cycling pauses during interaction and stays off for reduced-motion preferences. The editing preview below stays manual.
Featured Items
Add up to 8 items to this showcase, one image at a time. Each item has its own image, title, description, accessibility text, and optional button and link. Arrange your items below.
Showcase Preview
This is how your Featured page will appear to visitors. Editing this preview does not publish changes.

About this browser-local review
Drafts and published site-content changes are saved only in this browser on this device. Clearing site data removes them. This is not a shared production CMS.
Images are limited to JPG, PNG or WebP, 8 MB each, and optimized for storage. A failed save leaves your previous saved and published content unchanged.
Site content draft preview
Use Save & preview draft after editing. Preview sizes do not change your saved content.
Website Guide
Use this guide to update the Work the Metal review site: announcements, products, featured displays, homepage content and department photos.
This is a public review demo. Saved and published changes stay in this browser on this device. They do not update the production website or sync to another person’s computer, another browser or another visitor. Keep your original photos and copy elsewhere. Clearing this site’s browser data can erase your changes. There is no connected checkout, live inventory or separate admin password system.
Start here
- Choose a section in the left menu. On a small screen, open Admin menu first.
- For homepage or department updates, choose Site Content. Find the section’s visual card under Homepage or Department pages, then choose Edit.
- Use the Photos, Wording or Links tab to make your change.
- Choose Preview in the bottom action bar. It saves your draft first. Check the right page at both Desktop and Mobile sizes.
- When it looks right, choose Publish and confirm. This publishes all Site Content sections together in this browser.
- Use Back to store, or View public site on the Dashboard, to check the result.
Use All sections to return to the overview. Moving between sections or tabs keeps unsaved edits in your current working draft, but does not save them. Choose Save Draft before leaving the admin page.
“Public,” “live” and “published” labels describe the storefront view within this review demo. They do not mean a change has reached the production website.
Which section should I use
- Dashboard: check Sales and Featured status; change the announcement banner.
- Sales: add, edit, schedule or delete review products; turn the Sales section on or off.
- Featured Showcase: create an up-to-eight-item lookbook with optional automatic slideshow playback.
- Site Content: manage the hero, Explore the Store wording, four Collection Showcase cards and five department pages.
- Website Information: read about this concept, storage and access. Export Sales & Featured review downloads saved Sales products/settings and the published Featured Showcase, including their images. It excludes drafts, passwords, banner and other Site Content; downloading does not publish or change the site.
Different areas save differently. Site Content and Featured have separate draft/publish controls. Banner saves, product saves and the Sales on/off switch take effect directly. The Featured page switch also changes visibility immediately, using its previously published content. Publishing Site Content does not publish Banner, Sales or Featured changes.
Change the announcement banner
- Open Dashboard → Announcement banner.
- Enter a Message of up to 180 characters.
- For a clickable link, enter both an Optional link and a Link label of up to 35 characters. A link can be an internal page such as /sales or a complete https:// address.
- Check Show announcement banner to display it, or uncheck it to hide it while keeping the wording.
- Choose Save banner, then check the store view.
A visible banner needs a message. The banner appears above the navigation across the concept’s pages in this browser.
Edit homepage and department content
Open Site Content to see visual cards grouped under Homepage and Department pages. Choose a card’s Edit action to work on one section at a time. All sections returns to the overview and keeps your unsaved edits in the working draft.
Choose a tab: Photos contains image thumbnails, uploads, image descriptions and crop controls. Wording contains headings, descriptions and captions, including individual photo captions. Links contains optional destinations and link labels, including individual photo links.
- Hero: the main homepage photo and its photo pool.
- Explore the Store: section heading and introduction, plus each department card’s heading, description, link label and optional destination. Its photos come from the departments. In Photos, open a department and choose Edit this department’s photo pool, or return to All sections and edit that department directly. Each homepage card uses the first photo of its department’s selected pair.
- Collections: four collection cards, each with its own image, title, caption and optional link. You can also edit the overall section wording. The stored showcase note is not displayed. “Previous Latest Edit content” is retained for reference under Wording and does not appear on the homepage.
- Clothing, Jewelry, Home Decor, Children’s and Stationery: page heading, introduction, details, availability note, visit link and that department’s photo pool.
Optional links: in Links, leave a destination blank to show plain text without a clickable link or arrow. Use a page path starting with /, an anchor starting with #, or a complete http:// or https:// address. Add the link label wherever that field is provided.
Save and check: choose Save Draft in the bottom action bar to keep your work without changing the store view. Preview saves first and opens the draft preview. Select the Page to preview, then choose Save & refresh preview. Check Desktop · 1100px and Mobile · 390px. Preview sizes do not alter the saved content.
Publish: choose Publish and confirm. Review other pending Site Content edits first: they publish together, not just the section currently open. Cancel reloads the latest saved draft, after confirmation if needed. It does not revert a saved draft or undo an earlier publish. An “All changes saved” message means there are no unsaved edits; a saved draft may still need publishing.
Add replace or arrange photos
The hero has its own pool of up to 10 photos and shows one. Each of the five departments has its own pool of up to 10 photos and shows two different photos. The first selected department photo also appears on its homepage card.
- In the Site Content overview, choose Edit on Hero or the relevant department card, then open Photos. The pool’s thumbnails let you see the available photos.
- Choose Add another photo (or Add first photo) to select a file. Choose Replace on a thumbnail to change that photo. An empty slot says Choose photo.
- Use JPG, PNG or WebP files smaller than 8 MB. Photos are resized for storage. Wait until preparation finishes before saving.
- Open Image description & crop beneath the photo. Add a short, useful Image description (alt text), such as “Blue floral dress on a mannequin.” To add a photo caption, switch to Wording; to add its optional link destination, switch to Links. Match the Photo number to the thumbnail.
- Adjust the focal-point sliders to keep the important part of the photo in view. The hero has separate desktop and mobile controls; department photos have horizontal and vertical controls. Preview both screen sizes.
- Use ↑ and ↓ to move a photo earlier or later in the pool. Use Remove to remove its slot from the working draft. Undo last pool change restores the preceding pool change while it is available.
- Save, preview and publish when ready.
Understand the badges: “Draft selection” identifies the photo or pair selected by the current draft. “Published selection” identifies the selection from the published settings, calculated now. “In the pool” means it is available but not currently selected. An already-open page keeps its selection during that visit.
Other image controls: inside Image description & crop, Remove image empties the image without removing its slot. Restore original image restores that slot’s starting image where one exists; an added slot may have no original. Undo image change restores the previous image change while available. These are draft changes.
Before publishing: keep at least one hero photo and two distinct photos in each department, with no duplicate images within a pool. Every image needs an image description. Empty slots can be filled or removed. Collection Showcase card images use their own upload and image controls; they do not rotate with department pools.
Clothing and Home Decor may offer Add seasonal sample photos to this draft. This appends only new samples that fit; it keeps your existing photos. Preview the seasonal content before publishing it.
Choose photos manually or schedule swaps
Photo-pool rotation changes the hero or department pair over days. It is separate from the Featured Showcase slideshow, which can advance every three seconds.
In Site Content, edit Hero or the relevant department, open Photos, then expand Advanced rotation · schedule & manual selection below the photo pool.
Choose a fixed photo or pair: leave automatic rotation off. Choose the Manual hero photo, or two different photos in Manual pair · photo 1 and photo 2. Choose Use selected photo on publish or Use selected pair on publish, then preview and publish.
Turn on scheduled swaps: add more photos than the visible count, enable the automatic-rotation checkbox, and enter a whole number from 1 to 365 in Days between swaps. Each pool has its own interval. Automatic rotation starts off, with a seven-day default. Preview and publish to apply the schedule.
Swaps use 2 a.m. Eastern time (Indianapolis), regardless of the device’s time zone. On the spring daylight-saving transition, the missing 2 a.m. boundary uses 3 a.m. The schedule is calculated when a page opens; there is no background server timer. Photos stay steady during a visit rather than changing while someone browses.
Keep the current selection longer: while automatic rotation is enabled, use Pause on this photo on publish or Pause on this pair on publish, then publish. Use Resume schedule on publish to resume. Restart schedule on publish starts a fresh schedule from the applicable Eastern boundary when published.
If you choose a manual selection while automatic rotation remains enabled, it can change at the next scheduled swap unless you also pause the schedule. Changing the interval, selection or schedule controls remains a draft until you publish.
Build a Featured Showcase
- Open Featured Showcase. Set the Navigation Label (24 characters), Page Title (80) and Intro Text (500).
- Choose Add your first item or Add another item. Upload one JPG, PNG or WebP at a time, smaller than 8 MB. You can have up to 8 items.
- For each image, add an Image description for accessibility (160 characters). Optional fields are Item title (80), Description (300), Button label (32) and Button URL (500). Complete both button fields when you want a button.
- Use ↑ and ↓ to reorder items; × removes an item from the draft. To change an image, remove its item and add the replacement, then restore its wording and position.
- Choose Save Draft to keep your work. Preview Draft saves it and opens a separate preview tab. The on-page editing preview remains manual.
- Choose Publish Showcase and confirm. At least one image is needed. Turn the page on when you want its published content visible in the concept.
Page visibility is immediate: the Page enabled/disabled switch hides or restores the published showcase without deleting it. Turning it on before the first publish does not display an unfinished draft. If a showcase was already published, turning it on restores that version; publish again to show new content.
Slideshow playback: enable Automatically cycle featured items for three-second cycling in the published page and Preview Draft. Save or publish as appropriate. Visitors can pause or use arrows; interaction pauses cycling, and reduced-motion preferences keep it off. Leave the option unchecked for manual browsing.
Manage review products and sales visibility
This is a review-only product display. Checkout and live stock tracking are not connected, even though the form includes a Stripe link field and the cards resemble a shop.
- Open Sales. Keep Sales section off while preparing the display if you want it hidden from the store view.
- Fill in Product Title, Price ($), Product Description and the required Stripe Checkout / Payment Link URL field. This field is for a future link; it does not connect payments.
- Optionally upload a product photo. Leaving the image field empty uses the current image when editing, or the default image for a new product.
- Leave Scheduled Launch Date & Time blank for immediate availability, or enter a future date and time. This field uses the device’s local time, unlike the Eastern-time photo schedules.
- Choose Active / In Stock or Sold Out / Out of Stock.
- Submit with Save Product or Publish Product, whichever the form currently shows. Edits use Save Changes. Product saves take effect directly; there is no separate Sales draft/publish step.
Under Manage Products, choose Edit to change an item. To mark it sold out, change its inventory status and save. A sold-out product remains visible with a Sold Out label; a future-dated product shows Coming Soon. Delete asks for confirmation and removes the saved product. There is no product undo control. Cancel Edit closes an edit without saving its form changes.
Turn the Sales switch on to show the section and its navigation link in this browser. Turn it off to hide the section while retaining products. The local preview remains available while Sales is off and shows up to the first three products.
Common questions and quick fixes
- My changes are not on the store page. Check whether you saved a draft but have not published. For Featured or Sales, also check the page/section switch. Confirm you are using the same browser and device, then reopen or refresh the store page.
- The preview still shows old text. In Site Content, use Preview in the bottom action bar or Save & refresh preview after editing. Choosing a preview page alone does not refresh the frame.
- Publish is blocked. Read the message above the editor. Check required headings and link labels, image descriptions, the minimum photo counts, duplicate photos and whole-number intervals. Fix the highlighted section and try again.
- A photo will not upload. Try a JPG, PNG or WebP smaller than 8 MB. Very large or detailed images may need to be reduced further. Wait for image preparation to finish before saving.
- The browser is out of storage. Keep your originals. Remove unused draft photos or use smaller files and save again. For Site Content, a failed save preserves the last successfully saved draft and published content. Do not clear site data as a quick fix; it can erase your work.
- Another tab changed the content. First copy any unsaved wording you need to keep. Use Cancel in the bottom action bar to load the latest saved Site Content draft, then reapply your changes. Working in one admin tab helps avoid this.
- The scheduled photos have not changed. Check that automatic rotation is enabled, not paused, has enough photos and was published. The selection is computed when a page opens and stays stable during the visit.
- Can someone else see my edits on their computer? Not automatically. This review is publicly accessible and saves edits locally. A shared publishing system would need to be set up separately.
- Can I undo a publish? There is no full version-history or restore-published button. Edit the content back and publish again. Save copies of important wording and original photos outside this concept.

Review-only storage
Banner, products and showcase drafts are saved in local browser storage. They survive a refresh in this browser, but do not synchronize across devices. Clearing site data removes these review changes.
This review site is publicly accessible. There is no separate password system, live inventory, payment processor or shared content service connected.
Brand: supplied Work the Metal vector artwork and 2025 brand sheet. Typography uses licensed Bodoni Moda and Jost as close web alternatives to Didot and Avenir.
Export review content
Download saved Sales products and settings plus the published Featured Showcase, including their images, for the separate review copy. Drafts, passwords, banner and other site content are excluded. This only downloads a file; it does not publish or change this browser.
